Biography of Tushar

Tushar Nathwani

1955 – 2017

This is a biography written for Tushar Nathwani that creates an accurate representation of Tushar’s life.

Chronology:

Born in Jinja, Uganda on November 13th, 1955, Tushar began his journey through life. He went to primary school and secondary school in Kampala, Uganda. Tushar was the third son of Liladhar Nathwani and his wife Manjula Nathwani.  His Dad, a hard-working man, raised his 11 children in a very disciplined way.  It was from here that Tushar learned much of his punctuality. In Kampala, Tushar lived with his parents, 11 siblings, grandparents and two of his uncles. Tushar, his siblings and parents came to the UK in 1972 when all Asians were exiled from Uganda.  The family settled in Leicester. Tushar supported his younger siblings and helped his dad in the maintenance of the house expenses.  Tushar was a very hard working man and loved his parents & sisters. He was the first family member to pass the driving test and bought his first car. Tushar and Bina were introduced by a family friend. They enjoyed each other’s company so much they decided to get engaged in September 1982 and were married in May 1983 at Rushy Mead hall, Leicester. They developed a deep and loving bond and were close companions throughout their married life. Then moved to Nottingham to join the family business. Married Bina May 1983. Moved to Nottingham August 1983.

Occupation:

Tushar had a varied and interesting career as a businessman. He started out in a  part-time job at a petrol station at the age of 17 but yearned to go to college.  Although he never managed to fulfill his dream, by working hard he was able to ensure his son, Anish had the opportunity to go to university and has immensely proud when Anish started at Edge Hill University in 2015 studying Marketing. He then joined Northbridge Engineering firm as a machine setter where his dad worked in the accounts department. As his family was always close to his heart, Tushar worked at a family off-license business from 1983 – 1984. From Nov 1984 Tushar started petrol station business till Dec 1996. From 1997 till 2014 he worked as Warehouse Manager at Dimension warehouse in Long Eaton. The job he really enjoyed and he enjoyed the people he worked with more! Tushar retired in June 2014 due to ill health.

Interests:

Tushar loved spending time with his family and extended family. Family holidays were always a priority to spend quality time with Bina and Anish. He loved watching old TV programs, listing to old Indian movie songs.

Accomplishments & Values:

Tushar was recognised in his life many times, for his voluntary work at BAPS temple and LCND events. He loved cooking and his chai was very popular at LCND events. One of his proudest accomplishments was his son Anish. He loved his baby and was very proud of him. He was his pride and joy! He loved helping people in need selflessly and never expected anything in return, not even a Thank you!  Nathwani family was very important to Tushar and was very proud to be part of it. He was a very proud man and didn’t like anyone to know he was suffering from cancer. He didn’t want sympathy and found it hard to accept help from McMillan.
